stitch'n'bitch/birthday party
Saturday 26 July
from 3pm
at angstslashhope's place

Bring your projects. We will probably eat munchies, cake, pizza and cake. Guzzle soft drink, and watch something on the box.

See you there

Do you want a copy of the latest Yarn magazine?
My subscriber copy of Yarn magazine arrived today. But--excitement--I got an advertiser's copy too! My ad is beautifully placed on page 10. Woot!

Now that I see it in print, I can think of ways it could be made to look better. But for a first attempt, it's not bad.

Anyway, I only need one copy of the magazine. If you'd like my spare copy, give me a yell and I'll bring it along to the next slatch. We should probably have another slatch soon, yes? Except that my Mum's about to have heart surgery and I'll probably be spending most of my weekends down Geelong way during the next month.

Bunnikins is a knitfitti star!
Go look at this post by bunnikins.

She made scarves and hats for the Three Businessmen on the corner of Swanston and Bourke, and a Cosby tree sweater.

Love!

Scratch my slatch
Feeling very crummy today. Am unlikely to be able to do anything much this weekend apart from huddle in front of the fire, sniffle, cough, and do some quiet knitting and podcast-listening.

If anyone else wants to do slatchy things, please do! But I'm withdrawing my suggestion from yesterday, since I'm pretty sure that I won't be able to be there myself.

Vintage clothing fair in Williamstown this weekend
Hi all.

I have been contemplating a possible late-notice slatching in Williamstown this weekend to coincide with the vintage clothing fair.

However, it seems that my lurgy is still tenaciously clinging to me. There are days of (mostly) fabulousness, and then days like today when I feel like shit once more. So I am hesitant to make any plans that I might have to drop out of again if the lurgy has other ideas.

If anything slatch-like does happen this weekend, it will probably start with a Sunday morning breakfast at Provisions in Williamstown, followed by a visit to the vintage fair and then a casual bit of stitchery in a cafe along Nelson Place somewhere (don't know exactly which one - I'd probably be inclined to just stroll along the promenade and plonk down in the most likely place).

The Provisions bit is the most dicey - they are flat-out busy on Sunday mornings and a booking is nearly always required. So maybe it would be vintage fair first, followed by lunch at Provisions instead. Or something.

Um. I'm confused and dopey and don't want to make any definite plans, but just want to get the idea into other people's heads instead of mine. Maybe tomorrow my head will be clearer.

Ravelry at last
I haven't wanted to join the knitblog world, but Ravelry looks very nifty and I finally scored an invite. Whee!

Here I am at Ravelry: verylisa

If/when you get a Ravelry account, consider adding me to your friends list.

You can sign up for a beta test invite, but they have been overwhelmed with people interested in the beta test and currently are backlogged for weeks. So be patient. It looks to be worth the wait. :)

Knitting (and other stitch craft) activism
Here are a couple of little videos on DVblog. One is some people talking about their anti-sweatshop knitting projects. The other is of a crotchet installation (less interesting, IMO).

The first one is about the people from microrevolt and their knitpro thing, which looks pretty cool. They have some groovy pattern generating software and activities. I like the gun and the leg-warmers.

Community rename
At yesterday's gathering we seemed to reach a consensus that the name of this group should be "Slatch". I've gone ahead and done the rename thingy, so don't no-one have a fit and tell me that you hates the name, okay? I may have a conniption.

(Conniptions are my new favourite things to have.)

"Slatch" was the suggestion of angstslashhope. Originally it was intended to represent Slashers who Stitch, but then Sluts were also included so as to be inclusive of the non-slashers. I think there was another SL-term but I had a few beers and forgot what it was.
